Do you bring your own food? I traveled to New Orleans to stay with my grandmother, whom I just met last year, for about 4 days. Since I am vegan, there are things I eat that unless a person is also a vegan or a clean food eater, they will not have in their house. I literally walked in the door with an ice chest of food (for the stuff that needs to be cold) and about 3 bags of pantry food and a bag of potatoes.
I got the weirdest of looks.

Yes I do. Sometimes the vegan restaurants are closed so need to be prepared!
yep i do... my in laws look at me like im crazy lol... There is a vegan restaurant named Seed in New Orleans you should check out.. i like their poboy, mac and cheese, and tofu nuggets.
I also do that when I go home to avoid the arguments that my way of eating is making 'unnecessary difficulties' and 'restricting to others' :D to avoid having to stick to unhealthy alternatives or salad only bringing your own stuff is the best solution. But in case there is a good store in proximity I don't bring that much.
Whew! Glad I am not the only one :)

Sometimes you can also bring stuff to share so people don't feel rejected because one avoids 'their' food. This stuff can be really difficult :D I hope your granny was fine with that
