Because I refuse to by conventional beauty products I decided to make my own today. #zerowasteweekend. It's a cream that can be used for everything.

Ingredients:

Coconut oil

Shea butter

Olive oil

3 drops of essential lavender oil

Main ingredient is coconut oil. Maybe 1/3 was Shea butter and one tablespoon of oliveoil...

Unfortunately I don't have any measurement for you, I just mixed everything together.

I heated everything up apart from the essential oil. It only needs very low heat. As soon as all the ingredients have melted take of the heat. And add the essential oil (whatever smell you like). Fill it in a clean jar and let it open so that the steam can rise. Close the jar after 20mins.

I will use the cream as body lotion and hair conditioner. I actually rarely use any but sometimes my hair/skin gets very dry. The lavender oil has a calming effect and can be used as a sleep aid. Just use it a face cream before going to sleep.

I'll be making my toothpaste soon.

This is good as a lotion, but it shouldn't be used as a conditioner unless you leave it in the hair. Coconut oil solidifies under room temperature, so it should never go down the drain unless you want clogged drains.

Depends on the heat you are using. The lotion I made is softer then plain coconut oil. When you brush your teeth you use only a small amount of water and not necessary warm. But when washing your hair you do use a lot of warm water. The oil can't get solid in such an amount of warm water... And the drain pipe is formed differently in a sink.

But even if the water you use is warm to wash your hair, the oil will be washed down the sink to a place where it is colder and may solidify there. Just be careful with it, okay?
