It was hot here while I was away, and my cauliflower is mostly past prime. These three heads range from a bit past prime, to gone to seed. There is one beautiful one still not ready to pick, and another just starting to flower. All from the same six pack. Planted five days apart.
Friends picked zucchini, yellow squash, and some tomatoes while I was away. But there are tons still on the plants. The big ones on the left are a ‘beef’ steak variety. I used quotes to avoid confusing omnis who might think they are actually cow parts. Easily a hundred more to come. The pear tomatoes on the right, just fell off as I was inspecting the plants. I’ll pick enough to can a few quarts tomorrow.
Tomatillos are ready, I hope we get some Hatch chilies at the market this week. I’d like to make a big pot of chili verde sauce.
Enough cucumbers to can one pint of pickles. I’ll do that tonight. Netflix and canning anyone?
I pinched some basil tops and grabbed a few lemons. I think it’s zoodles with basil and lemon for dinner.
Tomorrow I’m picking three kinds of eggplant, blue lake green beans, a variety of chilies, and delicate squash. Possibly leeks and rainbow chard.

Amazing
Those tomatoes are GORGEOUS!! I didn’t plant any this year, but order up from my CSA box... nothing tastes like heirloom tomatoes!
These are spectacular. In a few days I’ll have heirloom pineapple variety. I can hardly keep it together. They are so good. There are so many on the plants already.
Beautiful!! I planted my produce too late and most of it died :(
Bummer. Do you live somewhere that you can plant fall veggies?
