Remove all distractions
Distractions can be costly when trying to revise as they can cause us to procrastinate. They can stop us from working at times when we really need to revise.
The best way to remove distractions is find a quiet place to study that does not have a TV or where you can be tempted to use your laptop or phone. There are various apps you can use to stop distractions such as Forest on mobile and cold turkey on laptop. These apps track if you use your phone or laptop. You can even blacklist apps or websites which are a big distraction to you during study time.

Past Exam Papers
Past exam papers are highly useful as they test your knowledge and they allow you to learn the things you did not know or got wrong when you look at the answers.
Practising with exam papers allows you to time yourself against the time allowed for the paper. It gives you a great insight into how the exam works and the structure of your answers.

Combine methods for improving memorization
There are many methods out there which can help you memorize topics or information such as mind maps, spider diagrams, flash cards, cover and etc. Instead of just doing one to aid revision it is best to combine them as it gives your brain a new way of thinking and tests you.
For example, combine flashcards with mindmaps. Test yourself with the flashcards first until you think you know it then produce a mind map from memory. Go through the information and highlight the parts you do not know or are not confident in and then you can go over those parts again.

Condense long notes
Long notes can be hard to go revise from as they take so much time to read. The best way to revise is through condensed or summary notes which sum up key topics or information. These can be great before going into an exam as they refresh your memory.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Start early and plan well
Starting early when preparing and revising for exam will maximise the time you have and give your brain enough time to retain the information.
Create an exam timetable where you can plan what topics or subjects you will study at what time with specific breaks in between. There are loads of printables out there which you can use such as a study planner or daily planner.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Keep up with notes
Throughout the time before exams, try to keep up with class notes for every subject or module this will save you having to rush at the last minute. This ensures you have notes to revise from rather than gaps in your revision.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Learn the correct thing
There is nothing worse than learning the wrong thing right from the start. Make sure you pay attention in class. Don't be afraid to ask your teachers if you are learning the right thing in your own study time. Read your textbooks carefully.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Breaks inbetween studying
Breaks inbetween studying are crucial that you do not burn yourself out. Once you have studied for either half an hour to an hour or how ever long you can endure, take a 15-25 minute break to let your brain recover. Go make a cup of tea or coffee, put on some of your favourite music or go and get a snack or your favourite food. Then resume studying and keep repeating.
It is based on the Pomodoro method where you force yourself to work solidly for a set period then reward yourself with a break at the end of the time spent studying.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Find your reason why
I often find myself asking why I am doing something. This enables me to have an end goal to work towards. Are you studying hard because in the future you want to become a doctor, a vet or a lawyer? Are you wanting to make your parents proud? What ever the reason make sure you make it your end goal and give yourself something to work towards.
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

Consistency
Being consistant with your work no matter how insignificant will benefit you greater in the future as you will be more willing to study. Even if the quiz you have next week is small compared to a large exam at the end of the year do not put off revision as the marks for that quiz could affect your grade. It is just as important.
