"Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!"

they cawed like crows,

mocked the way

my front teeth chose

to march ahead,

all proud, all bold—

a flag of flaws

I couldn’t fold.

Rabbit,

like a slur in pink.

Like sweetness

meant you’d always sink.

A feral grin,

a fluff-wrapped dare—

they made me prey

with poisoned care.

⧫ ═══════ ⧫

Damn kids.

Mean as wolves at play.

Sharp in packs,

then run away.

They gave me names

that didn’t stick,

so I wore them thin

until they clicked.

Braces came—

but what’s the use?

Still got teeth

that slip the noose.

Still a beast

they joke around.

Still chewing pain

with my mouth shut down.

⧫ ═══════ ⧫

"Rabbit, rabbit!"

I’d whisper too,

to spit it first

before they do.

A magic trick.

A jester’s spell.

A laugh I wear

so I don’t yell.

Call me names?

I’ll call me more—

a crown, a claw,

a metaphor.

⧫ ═══════ ⧫

I saw a rabbit once,

in twilight grass.

Alone. Not mocked.

Just meant to .

It blinked at me—

no threat, no shame,

and munched a flower

like a flame.

And maybe that

was meant for me:

To steal their leash

and plant a tree.

To twist the word

they flung like thorn—

and make it bloom

with teeth and form.

⧫ ═══════ ⧫

So yeah—

say rabbit, if you dare.

Say it loud,

I’m well aware.

You meant “ugly,”

meant “not quite right.”

But I’ve grown claws

beneath that bite.

You said “rabbit”—

and I said “fine.”

At least this name

was always mine.
