Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about other media more and so to continue the trend I'll be talking about another form of media I really like, movies. I've always really enjoyed watching movies and never have been big on TV shows. I will say that I am not a cinemaphile in the slightest but will actually put movie watching over even listening to metal sometimes.

So today I have decided that I will be talking about my 31 favorite movies of all time and not 25 as 2 movie trilogies I felt just had to be included in their entirety because of how good they were. They are also not ranked in any order so if the order seems goofy that's why. Like I said, this is my list and it won't be the "best" but these are my favorites and this will be a longer blog so without further ado, here are my 31 favorite movies.

Interstellar

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Starting off this list is a movie that a lot of people probably already love a ton. Interstellar is a sci-fi movie set in a near future world where the planet is basically dying. An ex fighter pilot/science fan who now is in farming has to go on an expedition to try to find a new world for humanity and provide data to help a professor divise an equation for well, Interstellar travel. This movie is amazing with fantastic shots, an interesting concept and and absolutely banger of a soundtrack by non other than Hans Zimmer. That main theme introduced me to the Cristal Bachet and ever since I've wanted to own or at least play such an instrument because of how beautiful it is. It is a great film and once you get past the long running time and it's slower pace, you get a film that is a perfect example of why Christopher Nolan is such a great director. I just absolutely love this movie and have to always put it on once in a blue moon.

Equilibrium

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This movie is super underrated and I really have never understood why. This movie stars Christian Bale and is set in a dystopia future where the government has decided that the root cause of all pain and suffering and problems is feelings so the government forces people to take this pill that suppresses all emotions and will kill anyone that shows emotions. Christian Bales character is a cleric who assists in killing the so called "feelers" and has superhuman skill at it until one day when one of his fellow clerics shows emotions and he begins to start to feel. I love this movie and even though it's technically like a knockoff 1984 I think it's great and I used to want to make edits of this movie so bad a few years ago when I first discovered it; I got ecstatic when I saw a mini trend of people doing that. Most people will say that it's ok but to me this movie is a must watch or stream and the movie gets really rolling once he befriends the puppy he meets after he helped law enforcement kill "feelers" at a house. "Tread softly, for you tread on my dreams" is also permanently fried in my brain and I say this quote from the movie all the time;Christian Bale's character is also my "he's literally me" character (I know I'm so different). I love this movie for sure and I really hate how it never gets the live I think it deserves.

Elysium

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Elysium is definitely the most underrated sci-fi movie. I first saw it at a hotel on our way to moving to Alaska and I it being flipped on to the scene when the main character Max is fighting a robot with an exo suit and from that scene on I've always liked it. Elysium is set in the far future where Earth has depleted nearly all of its resources and is overpopulated. Most of humanity is poor and sick and lives on Earth while the richest people live on an advanced satellite orbiting Earth known as Elysium. After the main character Max gets exposed to a lethal dose of radiation and gets an exo suit attached to himself to help him out in his final days, he agrees to do a heist and through the heist acquires a code that can help the people of the world and fix the backwards order of things. The premise of the movie is really cool and for being only an hour and 40 minutes long it really does a great job of setting up the world of the movie which some movies struggle with while having runtimes that are way longer. When you think about it for more than 5 seconds though the world of Elysium makes no sense and seems to be a critique of how illegals are viewed which is kind of lame because the movie builds itself up to be something much bigger and grander than it is. Visually there are some nice looking scenes like the glowing of the wind and the cheery tree leaves while Max is fighting the movies villain Kruegar for the last time looks so great and so does the scenes of Elysium from the outside it looks really good. There's a great soundtrack to boot and I don't know what to call it but the movie has this dystopian wasteland vibe to it and the director has 2 other movies, District 9 and Chappie (which are also good) that have the same feeling to them and it is a vibe in itself. Elysium is a pretty flawed movie and is farther towards the bottom of this list in of how much I enjoy it, but I still really like it and is still one of the only few movies that I can autisticaly watch multiple times in a row.

Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Of course, the film series of one of the most fundamental epic fantasy series ever written had to be on this list. Peter Jackson directed an incredible movie trilogy that brought the books to live action and truly brought them to life and gave them the respect they deserve. The movies are visually stunning and put major modern adaptations and shows to shame, which is kind of embarrassing considering these shows and adaptations are more modern and have much larger budgets than what Peter Jackson and the film crew used to make an entire trilogy of films. The base versions of the movies are top notch but the best way to experience the trilogy is by watching the extended cut editions of all 3 movies, which have a runtime of close to 12 hours to watch all 3 but these cuts truly explain the depth of the world of Middle Earth in the books and make it not seem like the studio forgot something or flat out changed something or didn't care at all with it and I love these extended editions so much that I actually refuse to watch the trilogy if I'm not able to watch the extended cuts for whatever reason. Some of my favorite scenes are the battle scenes, Frodo and Sam wise destroying the Ring in Mount Mordor, and the Ents storming the Tower at Isengard which is actually not just my favorite scene of the movies but my favorite scene in the entire book series as well. It's probably basic to have this film trilogy on this list but it is literally both the best fantasy film series and one of the greatest fantasy series ever and really gave birth to the tropes and elements that we think of when we think of fantasy.

Treasure Planet

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Now we have an animated kids movie on this list and yes, a few of my favorite movies are kids movies and a lot of the possible movies for this blog were actually kids movies. Treasure Planet is one of those that I just love to death and it seriously feels like I'm the only fan of this movie sometimes since I never see this movie get any appreciation and it's such a shame because this movie truly is a piece of art. It's basically just a retelling of Treasure Island but with a futuristic world that's like a juxtaposition between sci-fi and more traditional seafaring world with traditional boats with solar sails and boosters, lazer gun muskets, and space pirates it's super fun. This movie also is very stunning visually with lots of great looking 2D and 3D art and the animation team just absolutely cooked with making this movie (which sadly was also it's downfall) but the movie just looks excellent and the scene at the very beginning with the main character Jim riding a solar sail transition is literally the smoothest transition I have ever seen in any form of media ever and will probably ever see. The story like I said is a retelling of Treasure Island and follows a character named Jim, a rebellious teenager who's father left him and his mom a long time ago and gets in trouble a lot with the law. His mom works at an inn and one day after a mysterious stanger comes and gives him a strange orb before dying, his life changes forever as the orb is actually a map that can lead to the fabled "Treasure Planet" which is a planet where a notorious Space Pirates stored the wealth of a thousand worlds he plundered. I really like the characters of this movie and Jim, the Cook who befriends Jim and becomes like a father figure to him, and the obligatory "cute character" Morph are my favorites but the other characters are great too and surprisingly for a kids movie some of the vocabulary is higher level compared to other kids movies as they say some bigger words they normally wouldn't say. I also love the soundtrack and the song "I'm Still Here" really resonates with me as it's about being introverted and feeling out of place and trying to find belonging in the world. That's probably why this movie sticks with me so much, it just really speaks to me and I've always related to it, especially at a young age when I first saw it and was more lost than I am now. Even though it's a kids movie it is in my opinion a stellar movie that always pains me with how underrated it is as no one really talks about it and it is just way better than most movies that are out there in my opinion.

The Final Countdown

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This is perhaps the oldest movie on this entire list as it released in 1980 but it has quickly jumped to my list of favorites. The movie is about the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier the U.S.S Nimitz going to sea and then getting stuck in some weird storm that takes the ship all the way back to 1941 before the Pearl Harbor bombing takes place and then they have the dilemma of whether or not they should prevent the attack with their more advanced aircraft and weaponry and how they are going to come home. The movie has like one of the most far fetched premises in a military movie but yet it has like such an accurate portrayal of the processes of loading missiles and running an aircraft carrier as well as the most realistic dogfighting scene ever when 2 F-14 Tomcats dogfight some "Zeros" which is always awesome to see.(I use quotes because these were planes made to look like the original Japanese Zeros). They used actual F-14s and F-14 pilots in the making of this movie and the main reason I love it so much is because of all the satisfying things in the movie for someone who's always liked fighter jets and aviation but has recently gotten autisticaly into it. The movie is an older movie so some of the acting and stuff seems silly but I don't mind as I always have a great time watching this movie and every time I see it on a streaming service I have to keep myself from watching it. It's just an old movie that is just really quite good and is like the ultimate neural activator for fighter fans and lovers of aviation such as myself.

Mimic

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Of course, this list wouldn't be complete without at least one film with a heavy focus on insects and this just happens to be that film. Mim8c is set in New York City in the midst of an epidemic affecting children in the city that was found to be spread by cockroaches. Some people in the CDC decide to stop the cockroaches they develop a hybrid bug they dub the "Judas Breed" that produce an enzyme that increases the cockroaches metabolism to a point that they just die because it's way too great and it stops the cockroaches and the epidemic of the fictional disease. Everything seems fine as the Judas Breed insects were made sterile and to die on their own but it turns out that they thrived in the sewer systems of New York City and have evolved into giant human sized insects that 'mimic' humans and kill them to protect their hive. This is my favorite horror movie even though it isn't really scary and it's kind of cheesy but I love the premise considering that I'm a wannabe Biologist/Entomologist who really loves insects and arachnids. The girl who came up with the Judas Breed and her husband who works with the CDC have to then stop the bugs and it's great. The characters are fun and my favorite has to be the autistic kid who is the son of a shoe polisher who can identify the type of shoes someone is wearing by the sound they make when they walk who calls the bugs "Funny Shoes" and the security guard who just gets caught up in their mess and has to help them get out. The effects aren't the best but the mutated Judas Breed are pretty cool looking and for a fictional movie the science is mostly solid as I discovered from one of the youtubers I like like to watch who makes semi-science content. This is actually the first in the series but the second one is barely watchable and the third one is so bad I refuse to even watch it once. Really sucks because I love this little movie and I'm glad I found it a few years ago because it's literally my kind of movie and will probably creep out most people but for people who love the world of arthropods such as myself, it's a really fun movie.

Unbreakable

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This one is super underrated but I've always really liked this ever since I first saw this as a kid. This movie is centered around a character named David Dunn who is the sole survivor of a train crash without a broken bone. He meets a man named Elijah who suggests he has a gift and tries to make him become a superhero. Elijah or "Mr Glass" is like the perfect antithesis to David Dunn as he's super intelligent but has a condition where his bones break super easily whereas David Dunn has strength that adapts and super strong bones and the uncanny ability to tell if somebody has done something wrong just by brushing against them, hence why it's called Unbreakable. This movie is very slow paced but it's a wonderful movie that breaks superheros down to the most basic fundamentals and I would say it's a must watch for superhero movie fans. David Dunn is a super underrated character as he is just a guy with an impressive array of gifts who wears a raincoat because he has an intense weakness to water. The movie just has a wonderful tone and an amazing soundtrack by James Newton Howard and being an M.Night Shyamalan film has a scene where he appears in his own movie. I could go on about it but I just immensely love this movie and it's such a shame that the other 2 films in his "177 trilogy" Split and Glass weren't as great as this film because it could've been one of my favorite trilogies otherwise. Either way, Unbreakable in my mind is a spectacular movie and a must watch in my opinion that I'll always come back to.

The Dark Knight

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Now we have made it to my favorite Batman movie ever made and definitely in the top 3 of my top 5 picks for best superhero movies. I love all the Batman movies (even the really bad ones) and I love Batman immensely as a fictional character but no movie starring the caped crusader is at this level. This stars Christian Bale as Batman and what introduced me to the actor but it's set in a setting where Batman now has to face against a new foe, the Joker, who tests his resolve and patience like no other. Heath Ledgers Joker is the best Joker we've ever gotten and it sucks that he died because having him in The Dark Knight Rises would've made that movie better. This movie plays out like a drama but it's just so great seeing how the Joker attacks the city and destabizes the society of Gotham while Batman can only merely endure and fight a battle that he basically already lost from the start that leads him to his limit, it's just great stuff. There's also Two Face but he's one of the few flaws of this movie as his character has a very rushed beginning and a short runtime in the overall movie, although his appearance definitely is more grisly and more akin to the comics than the Two Face in Batman Forever. I also could go on about how much I love The Dark Knight Batman suit and how it's one of my favorite Batman suits ever, it's just such a sleek and epic looking suit that really gives a knight feel and finding out it was in the video game Batman:Arkham Knight made me a very happy camper. I just really love The Dark Knight and I'm glad that Christopher Nolan directed this wonderful film and several other superhero films because he just had a knack for making great ones, although sadly he said years ago that he's all done making them. Either way though, we got the greatest Batman film ever The Dark Knight out of it and I still stick to my belief that they won't ever make a Batman film this good.

Tobey Maguire's Spider man Trilogy

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Aside from the kid movies on this list these movies are the most nostalgic to me and mean so much to me. I first watched these when I was a kid and were my introduction to Spider-Man and why I love him as a superhero so much and used to dress up as him for Halloween as a kid. People always criticize them for the awful cgi the terrible cgi and effects and some cheesy things (and MJ) but these movies to me are fantastic. Sam Raimi directed a wonderful trilogy and being a horror director normally he threw some horror elements in, like Spider-Man having organic webs and that hospital scene in Spider-Man 2 and also just made sure to create Spider-Man's world and it's great.Tobey Maguire plays Peter Parker and Spider-Man so well and his suit is one of my favorite Spider-Man suits ever. These movies also have great villains like Willem Dafoes Green Goblin, the iconic role of Alfred Molina as Doc Oc, and even Venom and Sandman. J Jonah Jameson is also the best he'll ever be and all of the side characters also really help to bring the world to life. Danny Elfman also worked his craft into making such an iconic and bombastic soundtrack that induces serotonin like nothing else whenever I hear it.Watching these movies as an adult actually makes me appreciate them even more than I already did as a kid because there's so much depth and lessons in these movies like having to make sacrifices, learning to persevere and struggle on, the responsibilities of marriage and even forgiveness and how to forgive in Spider-Man 3 (they unfortunately did a retcon for this but it makes Spider-Man 3s ending so fantastic). Spider-Man 3 is technically considered the worst and is my least favorite but it is one I've always liked and one I really relate to a lot these days.I am also not lying when I say that Tobey's Spider-Man getting the black suit was one of the most hype moments ever for me as a kid, I was obsessed and wanted a black suited Spider-Man action figure so bad. The first movie is a fantastic start that really was a proper origin story and drove the direction of superhero movies for years to come but Spider-Man 2 is my pick for magnus opus of the trilogy and might be my favorite superhero movie ever, which is saying a lot because I'm a nerd that loves superheros and superhero movies. That movie is just so good and iconic and the train scene will never leave my mind forever, it's my favorite Spider-Man scene ever. Whenever I feel down I always put this movie on and it always pumps me up without fail and instantly makes me feel better. Also hearing Vindicated by The Dashboard Confessional at the end credits just always tales me back and is just the perfect song to end the movie. I could go on and on about these movies but they are just nostalgic and just so spectacular in general. I could literally write an entire blog about how much I love these films but I need to keep going on with this list of movies. Just know that to me, they are some of my favorite movies and why me and millions of other kids, have become forever in love with this fictional character and why I will even say he's a better character than Batman.

The Book of Eli

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This is a post apocalyptic film that I never see anyone talk about and it's a shame because it's such a good movie. This movie is set in a post apocalyptic U.S. where Denzel Washington's character wanders the wasteland protecting the last known Bible in existence and preventing it from being destroyed or coming to harm. He meets a girl during his wanderings and they come across a town whose governor wants to acquire the Bible so he can use it as a means of controlling the small population that live in the town and so he sends people after them to get it for himself. I've mentioned how great the soundtrack is in my favorite soundtracks series but I'll just say again that the soundtrack is fantastic and the tone of the movie really does make the world feel desolate. This movie is super grounded and doesn't feature anything crazy or pop out at you like the Mad Max movies but I think it's epic and the twist at the end of the movie is just spectacular, even though since I've watched it I already know it but it just hits just right and really gets to me everytime. This whole movie feels also like a movie talking about how people do like to use things like religion and Faith and misuse or abuse it to control or hurt people which unfortunately happens in real life all the time and it's so nice seeing a movie with strong Christian themes that is actually really good and a post apocalyptic film no less. It also isn't probably related but this movie also reminds me of a sci fi novel I discovered this year called A Canticle for Leboitz which is one of the many books I've been wanting to read but seems to have a similar concept of post apocalypse and preserving knowledge. The Book of Eli is just a great movie to me and will probably seem like the most random pick but I really love this movie and it reaches to me more than most movies do.

Jurassic Park

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Steven Spielberg's classic movie is one that would be a crime not to include on this list. The adaptation of Michael Crichton's novel (which I would highly recommend reading) is about a billionaire named Dr. Hammond who invested in genetic research to bring dinosaurs back to life and wants to make an amusement park of it. He has paleontologist Alan Grant and paleontologist Ellie Sattler as well as a mathematician named Ian Malcolm to come and preview the park before he officially opens it up to the public. It's all going good until one of the employees causes the whole park to go in disarray and soon the characters have to survive from the dinosaurs and find a way off the island. This movie looks good to this day and the dinosaurs still look so cool. The soundtrack is iconic and Alan Grant is still one of my favorites in of fictional characters. I was super into dinosaurs as a little kid and wanted to be a paleontologist for the longest time and I always wanted to be like Alan Grant because I thought he was so cool. The fact that this movie has dinosaurs is why I love it so much and I definitely watched this movie and the other Jurassic Park movie on this list more times than I can count back then. Nowadays I don't watch it as much as I used to but I still love it and will prefer this over the newer Jurassic World movies although I will mention that perhaps one of my most worn shirts that I still own is a Jurassic World shirt since I don't have a Jurassic Park one. Still, it is definitely one of my favorite dinosaur movies and really helped to kickstart my love for dinosaurs and animals and why I wouldn't want anything less than a job involving animals or dinosaurs for a career.

An American Tail: Fievel Goes West

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This is another movie I never see anybody talk about but this was actually one of the first movies that came to my mind when I decided to make this blog. The movie is about a little mouse named Fievel who lives with his family in New York. After their home gets destroyed and ruined by cats Fievel and his family are forced to head out West and start a new life. Fievel along the way gets separated from his family and must find his way back to them and in time too so he can stop the villain of the movie who is a cat businessman who wants to make cats and mice friends as a guise to make the mice distracted so he and the rest of the cats can eat them. Fievel's friend and the only cat that never wanted to eat Fievel or mice, an orange cat named Tiger, also heads out West to find his friend since they left in a hurry and Fievel didn't get to say goodbye which made him sad. This movie has always been a favorite since the beginning and is one of those "this movie could never be made today" as it has things like a Native American mouse being the most stereotypical caricature of a Native American and Fievels sister almost forced to become a prostitute and nearly gets victimized by the villain of the movie. Despite that this movie is really really good despite it's short runtime and is actually a sequel but is actually a sequel that is better than the first movie. The first movie is good but Fievel Goes West is a much better movie and one that has always been a favorite of mine.

Transformers

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This was the second Transformers movie I ever watched, after the original animated one, but it's the one that I the most and has cemented itself as one of those "comfort" movies. People rip the "Bayverse" to death online as they aren't exactly top notch movies and while the later movies went off the rails with explosions and action and goofiness, I really like the more grounded realistic nature of this movie. It's just a straightforward movie of the Autobots and Decepticons coming to Earth and fighting over the Cube, an object that turns machines into Transformers and the Autobots are trying to keep Megatron from getting his hands on it and building an army to destroy the world like he did with their homeworld of Cybertron. Yes, this movie is still not exactly a "good" film in movie but I love it and it introduced me truly to the world of Transformers and military aircraft, the latter of which adult me has developed an autistic fascination with primarily the fighters. It also introduced me to my favorite Transformer Bumblebee and 7 year old me used to be obsessed, he's the reason why I wanted a Chevy Camaro so bad even though they aren't exactly the coolest cars ever and why every Camaro I see in the wild regardless of its color makes me think of him (it would still would be cool to have one though). Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime is also fantastic as well, that man basically is Optimus Prime. The Megatron of this movie is also the best we've ever gotten and will ever get even though the voice actor didn't like his role as Megatron (while the guy that replaced him in the later movies isn't as good but had the greatest time ever voicing Megatron lol). The other Autobot characters are great and I love that they made the designs of the Autobots and Deceptions different. The Autobots have bright warm colors and rounded non threatening appearances and blue eyes that make it clear they're friendly while the Decepticons have red eyes and sharp, haphazard angles and pieces jutting out of them and look vicious signifying that they are villains and I hate that they strayed away from this differentiation in the later movies. Sam Witwickey is also just an essential part of this movie and Bumblebee being assigned to protect Sam causes Bumblebee to bond with him and be the fun silly member of the Autobots. Even though this movie is a "bad" movie, it's one I've always loved and why the Transformers franchise is a franchise that I've loved a ton since I was a kid and why I used to always want to get the toys which I still have. It's also why I'm always happy to have the original DVD of the movie which sits on the DVD shelf and is one of my favorite DVDs that my family owns. Definitely a movie that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Pacific Rim

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Pacific Rim is a movie that kind of falls in the same boat yet it's the opposite. It's just a Jaeger fighting giant Kaiju movie but instead of being hated for looking bad this movie visually is amazing and absolutely wipes the floor with movies that are coming after it 11 years after it released. The movie is a big dumb action movie about an alien race sending giant Kaiju through a fissure in the Pacific Ocean called the Rift to destroy the planet. To fight back humanity units together and builds giant mechs called Jaegers to combat the attacks and it works until the Kaiju are too strong for the Jaegaers once the movie starts and humanity has to unite together with the last of the Jaegers to make one last stand and destroy the Rift or else humanity will be destroyed. The Jaegers and the Kaiju are really cool looking and of course the main Jaeger Gypsy Danger is my favorite but I also really like Striker Eureka and Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon. It's dumb but it's really entertaining and fun and with the insane visuals this is a movie that I love to watch. The sequel though is horrible and the fans hate it so much that they act like it never existed but the first movie is amazing and why I follow a huge Pacific Rim fanpage on Instagram called PacificRimCentral which has everything you can possibly think they'd have for this and the second movie. While it is hated but also loved for just being an action movie, I love Pacific Rim and it's one of those movies that I can watch a lot in quick succession and one that I still desperately need on DVD or Blu-ray.

Edge of Tomorrow

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This movie is the most recent addition to my list of favorites but it's quickly cemented itself on this list since I've watched it several times and gotten hooked to it. The premise is that an alien race has invaded Earth and humanity is on the losing end. The world's leaders and military decide to do one final assault and the main character is falsely accused of deserving and forced to fight on the frontlines as a recruit but the assault fails and Humanity is doomed. However, the main character kills one of the Alphas and gets burned to death by its blood and gets it in his system which makes the attention of the Omega or head of the aliens which puts him in a time loop where he repeats that day every day and has to until he can succeed at killing the Omega and ensuring the combined forces of mankind can push back the aliens once and for all. The story is super far fetched and seems impossible with blood being able to warp time and space but I find the movie really fun and the aliens are a really cool concept. There's also lots of exo suits in this movie which are always a fun sci-fi staple and the repeating days leads to a few montages. It's a big blockbuster action movie but it's very entertaining and it's premise is kind of unique, although it's based off of a Manga that's even more ridiculous and over the top. Definitely one of those that I spam watch whenever it pops up on a streaming service.

The ion of the Christ

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

As a Christian, this list wouldn't be complete without some Christian films and unfortunately, most Christian movies suck but there are some great ones and The ion of the Christ has to be my favorite Christian movie. The movie is a retelling of the story of Jesus's final days on Earth and his crucifixion and this movie truly showcases the brutality Jesus faced and the suffering he endured and the movie really shows the severity of it all which obviously most people try to not properly show which I consider a disservice. The movie also has all of the actors not speaking in English so it also truly feels like it is authentic and I love that they made Satan weird and creepy to truly send home the message that Satan is evil. The detail in this movie is just top notch such as the holes in Jesus's hands when he resurrects and leaves the tomb but it isn't a movie I can watch all the time as it's a movie that makes me cry, especially the part where Mary comes to Golgotha and sees them erecting the Cross with Jesus nailed to it. Still, it's a beautiful movie about one of the most significant events of Christianity and my pick for the best Christian movie ever.

Digimon the Movie

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This movie is a classic to me and has been a part of my life since I was a very little kid. My Gma had it on vhs and since me and my brother would always go to her house on the weekends we watched the vhs's she had including this one. This movie is kind of goofy looking at it now as it's 3 Japanese short Digimon films all combined into one film in 3 parts and to me it's a blast. The movie is short but it flows very well despite that and all of the parts are good but the second part is definitely the best. The first part is basically a retcon of how they got the Digimon and the scene with Greymon going "IT'S GREYMON NOW!" and then absolutely vaporizing Parrotmon is legendary. It's probably the shortest part but it's a great start and then it goes into the second part where Greymon and Garurumon have to defeat this viral Digimon that's hacked the world's infrastructure before a military missile detonates and it is just an epic battle. The last part has the characters from season 2 of the show and this is where all 3 of the movies connect as they have to defeat a boys Digimon that got infected by a virus that's made him sick and dangerous. This one is also great and has a ton of digievolutions but it isn't as epic or intense to me. Watching it now is goofy as there's a green card joke in the movie that went over younger mes head and it ends in the most 2000s way possible with Smash Mouths All Star playing, plus there's these like mini "commercials" during the movie that are goofy. The only thing I can really fault the movie for is it being made for kids and for some reason they went with this weird art style that differs from the show and it doesn't look great now but I adore this movie. This is the reason why I love Digimon and why I like it more than Pokémon and even had some of the toys. It is super hard to find this movie now and it gets a lot of flak for being an "Americanized" Digimon movie but I love it and it's what made me a fan of the franchise. If you do somehow come across it I would highly recommend it because it's not bad and take it from me, it's why I love Digimon so much.

The Amazing Spiderman

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

There have been a ton of Spider-Man movies that have been made but aside from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, there is only one other Spider-Man movie that I love super deeply enough to make the list and it's this one. This movie is just once again a new director's take on Spider-Man's origin when Sony acquired the rights to Spider-Man but Marc Webb chose to put a new spin on it and it turned out great. Andrew Garfield is my second favorite Spider-Man and he is for sure the funniest as he cracks a bunch of jokes when he's Spider-Man. He also is the most believable Peter Parker and really feels like a 17 year old kid even though he was apparently almost 30 years old during the making of the movie. His relationship with Gwen Stacy who is played by Emma Stone is the best relationship in these movies and the chemistry feels really authentic and I really enjoy some of the other characters like Gwen Stacy's dad, Flash Thompson believe it or not, Uncle Ben and Aunt May and Dr. Curt Conners who becomes The Lizard, who is the antagonist of the film. The Lizard has never been one of Spider-Man's better foes but he's still a cool character and the whole thing with him being a lizard always gets me nerding about animals and biology which are 2 things I really love. The futuristic theme of the movie and the world within the movie is pretty cool and before I go on I have to say that the TASM 1 suit is better than the TASM 2 suit (they are both great but I've always liked the TASM 1 suit better and consider it one of my favorites). The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is ok compared to this movie and one way it's better is James Horner's (rip) more emotional soundtrack blows Hans Zimmer's epic dubsteppy TASM 2 soundtrack out of the water in my opinion (Serenata and Promises are just way too good). While Tobey's Spider-Man made me want to be Spider-Man this movie actually inspired me to want to become a superhero of my own and in high school I actually wanted to become a vigilante called Gnatman and I even had a suit design drawn and everything (I always come back to it and I even have this complicated idea on how to give myself real "powers"). People always trash on this movie and it's sequel but I have always loved this one and like in the past I'll always defend it and put it in my top 3 or 4 Spider-Man movies ever. I will say that some (not all) of the deleted scenes would've made the movie even better and made some of the weaker scenes of the movie stronger and why this applies to both TASM movies is beyond me. Either way, I love this movie and I will constantly rewatch it and quote some of the characters while I watch it and not care, to me it's actually amazing (no pun intended).

Jurassic Park 3

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Aside from the first Jurassic Park, the only other Jurassic Park movie that even makes it on this list is Jurassic Park 3. This movie is set years after the first movie and the awful sequel (we don't talk about that one) and Alan Grant and the other characters are doing well after everything that happened. Alan Grant is now way popular in the paleontology world as he used what he learned about raptors at Jurassic Park to act like new discoveries of raptors, which is what he and the paleontologist his character was inspired by specialize in. He gets approached by a businessman and his wife whose son went missing on one of the islands that there were dinosaurs on and so they need his expertise to help them and the team he hired navigate through the island. It all goes good until obviously they encounter dangers on the island like raptors (which are feathered), pterodactyls and the savage Spinosaurus which fights and kills a T-Rex when it's first shown and just looks so awesome and menacing. This movie isn't as much of a cinematic masterpiece as the first one and plays out more like a faster paced action movie but I love it regardless and I would always have fun watching this movie and the first one on vhs at my Gmas all the time like several other movies on this list. My Gma even had some of the toys and they were so cool so I would always play with them every time I would go to her house. People dump on this movie of course but it's nowhere near as bad as the second one and the one movie of the original 3 Jurassic Park movies that I the best. It's just a fun movie that's great entertainment if you like dinosaurs.

Man of God

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This is an indie movie that I never would've known otherwise if it wasn't spread by word of mouth by Christian pages I follow but I am forever glad that this movie has graced my eyes. This movie is based on the life and true story of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, who was slandered and exiled by his own brothers and forced to start his entire life over. It is a very slow film but it is a beautiful film about the life of a man who truly lived for Christ and expressed it in every aspect of his life and he is also the person who composed the chant Agni Parthene which has become a well renowned and popular chant so that's pretty cool. This movie is just such a blessing in itself as I get to see a movie about my Orthodox Faith and watching it always wants me to do better and continue striving to be a better person, a better man, and most importantly, a better Christian in my life. To me this is among the most beautiful movies on this list and I always hope it grows in popularity and inspires others to make quality Orthodox Christian films because I always hope more people can discover the beauty and the truth of the Orthodox Faith.

Iron Man

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

While I did fall in love with Batman and Spider-Man as a kid like everyone else did I also fell in love with Iron-Man thanks to this movie. I got really into Iron Man and had Iron Man pajama pants, a giant Iron Man action figure, and had my 8th birthday Iron-Man themed;my Dad even spray painted my first ever bike gold and red because I wanted it to be like Iron-Man. This movie is his origen story and was the first ever movie in the MCU and clearly, one of my favorites. The story is really grounded and I like the more grounded stories and I like how even though Iron-Man is way stronger in the later movies the way they presented him in this just makes him seem just so powerful which the newer movies don't do as well. I'm also super biased but the original Mark 3 Iron Man suit is still my favorite Iron-Man suit and really looks metallic and cool and really heavy like he's well, Iron-Man. He also just actually sounds metallic in this movie while he's in the suit with his boots clanking when he walks. Iron Monger was also a good villain although by the time he fully became a foe to Iron-Man the movie was almost over and really only had an advantage over Iron-Man because because the movie set the cards against him on purpose, otherwise he would have killed him super fast. While I always have liked Iron-Man, I never was into him as much as I was with Spider-Man but that doesn't stop me from wishing jetpacks and personal flight were more advanced and commonplace in the world and that my concept of the Xerxes jetpack and Harrier helmet which were inspired by Iron-Man were real and in service by the U.S. Military. Either way, I like Iron-Man and is one of my favorites in the ever popular superhero movie genre.

The Princess Bride

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

This movie is considered a classic film to some and it's not very hard at all. I first watched it at a young age and since then I've seen it tons of times and this is the only movie on this list that has the honors of being played in one of my classes because my teacher connected it to what we were learning about. This movie has a great cast of fun characters, a grounded fantasy story, iconic lines like "My name is Inigo Montoya prepare to die!" and perhaps one of the greatest sword fighting scenes in any movie ever. It's just a fun movie that's presented through the readings of a grandpa to his grandson that's sick and at first the kid couldn't care less but by the end he's completely into it like I always am when this movie is on. It's actually funny that I have this movie on here because it's the only fantasy movie on this list besides LOTR and I am a big fantasy fan, it's my favorite genre of literature so I'm surprised there's less fantasy or sword and sorcery selections I chose but oh well. Anyways this movie is great and most of you have probably seen it before but if you haven't it's a really great movie and one I feel deserves the classic title.

Batman Begins

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Now is the second and final Batman movie on this list. This was the first of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy and is a retelling of Batman's origin story. We all know the origin story and while that makes this movie suffer because everybody knows his origin story like the back of their hand, it's a great film and for being a movie from 2005 it looks really good. Tonally it is different from the other 2 films in the trilogy but it is a cool tone and the only movie that actually really features bats and Batman gliding through the air with his cape. Batman has a suit that looks more like the classic Batman suit and it is fun seeing him grow as a masked vigilante and figuring out the ropes and striving to save Gotham city from Scarecrow and his mentor and the League of Shadows, who want to plague the city in fear. I will it this is one of the movies on this list I see less than a lot of the other movies on this list but I really enjoy it and while that level of enjoyment isn't the same I have for The Dark Knight, I still really enjoy this movie. There's also a fun little Easter egg with the soundtrack of this movie that I always get a kick out of and speaking of which, Batman Begins has a great soundtrack and so does the rest of the trilogy. While it's not my favorite, it's definitely a movie that gets Batman right unlike a few movies (cough cough Batman and Robin, Batman Forever).

Godzilla 1998

#NMW My 31 Favorite Movies-Hey guys, it seems that lately I've been feeling like talking about metal less and talking about o

Finally, to cap off my list is perhaps the most overall hated film on this blog, Godzilla 1998. This film like a few of the films on this list was one I would watch a lot when I would go to my Gmas house as a little kid as she had and still has it on vhs. This was America's attempt at a Godzilla movie way back when and it was panned to the point where the Godzilla in the movie was trademarked as "Zilla" and is it's own separate entity from Godzilla. I personally love the design of Zilla and how he's essentially just a giant mutated iguana that stands like a dinosaur and has this sleek and sharp design and moves extremely fast unlike Godzilla normally who slowly lumbers around. The effects of this movie aren't the best and Godzilla or Zillas only real motivation of "attacking" the city is to get fish for food and raise it's babies (it's a goofy plot point about asexual reproduction) seems more like an actual animal and less like a giant Kaiju that acts as a balance of nature, which turned a lot of people off. It is silly but regardless I love this movie a ton and actually prefer this over all of the classic Godzilla movies which I think are bad and much worse than this. Despite the internets hate I love this movie and I'm glad they made it because otherwise we never would've gotten Godzilla The Animated Series which retcons the ending of the movie and follows Zillas son Zilla Junior who has really cool dark purple skin and even can breathe green fire. It sucks that it has the reputation it has but I'll forever be someone who is a big fan of it.

So there you go, there were my picks for my 31 favorite movies in no particular order. Like with any type of list like this that I make I'd be forever debating and switching movies on and off the list that I like or love and this blog was no exception. I think this blog had the most amount of selections I thought through and included some time of thinking about movies and looking through my families DVD collection figuring out what to include on the list. I am absolutely torn that movies like The Incredibles and Lilo and Stitch among many others that didn't make the list but there's no way like I said to make this list perfect so I'm just gonna have to double down on my picks that I've chosen.

I also am still slowly but surely working on the "Big Blog" that I promised you guys. Progress on it is slow due to life and school but I will say that it is my favorite blog that I've ever worked on in all the years I'm been here on Amino and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed reading through my list of movies and seeing that it's "bad" but I don't care. I wonder what all of your picks are for favorite movies. I hope you all have a good day or night and I'll see you all next time. Goodbye

I'm gonna do what they call a "compliment sandwich":

(Bread) Great blog and movie selections, Dustin 🤘

(Filling) Sorry, but you reminded me about how much I loathe those bloody American Tail mouse movies. We had them on VHS and I hated them. I don't know why but I never wanted to punt a mouse before seeing those films. Seeing it's dumb face just makes me angry.

(Bread) You're not alone, I absolutely love Treasure Planets. That was one of my favourite movies as a child and heavily influenced my creative ideas from the moment I saw it. I still love it to this day. Probably that, Night at the Museum and Madagascar were the holy trinity of my childhood.
