┈─⌗ welcome to my blog ꒱
ཐིཋྀ
power;
loud; assertive; booming voice
a performer through and through
Hello and welcome, lovely people of KA!
Only two left and here's my
favorite changbin parts in skz songs!
1 . . . megaverse ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:29 - 0:35 ᝰ.ᐟ
Megaverse is THAT song and this
changbin verse is just iconic. I
was debating adding his second
verse for the choir in the back
that adds this absolutely ethereal
sound to it, but I love the way he
plays with his words in the first
verse too much. The popping p's
sound so cool and the speed and
neatness he raps with is always
deserving of praise. That whole
rap sequence is out of this world.
2 . . . heyday ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:28 - 0:42 ᝰ.ᐟ
A hidden gem in their discography
and all three of 3racha shine so
much in this one. There's this one
thing about changbin as a rapper,
where he makes a beat his own,
flawlessly rides it to the end and
the listener is left stun locked, still
processing wtf happened. The
way he pauses after certain words
and the sing-song delivery at the
word "pikachu" with the high voice
all work so well in crafting this
incredibly quirky, compelling part.
3 . . . lalalala ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:14 - 0:21 ᝰ.ᐟ
Bintro's at their finest. Lalalala is
one of their most intense song, so
changbin starting out the song
with his big energy and loud, gritty
voice over the fast beats is just
perfect. And of course, he can't
just be straightforward, he has to
have tiny details to make sure his
verse is the best it can be. In this
case, the repeat of "rock" in-
between his words make the part
even more interesting.
4 . . . chk chk boom ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 1:15 -1:24 ᝰ.ᐟ
Again with the eccentrics!! This
man's creativity will never cease
to amaze me. This time, the small
catch is the rolling of his r's and
when I tell you this was one of the
parts I replayed over and over
when chk chk boom came out, I
truly mean it. It's not an intense
verse, it's not particularly fast, but
it flows so nicely over its very
addicting melody. An exmaple of
how he can add his own flavor
to even the simplest of verses.
5 . . . miroh ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:59 -1:07 ᝰ.ᐟ
Of course, miroh is up here, it has
all the iconic rap verses, and
changbin's is quintessential of the
skillful rapper he is. Starting off
with a back and forth with hyunjin
he eventually grabs the song for
his own and goes off, rapping on
about surviving each trap laid
out for him. He raps faster and
faster as the instrumental builds
up to the chorus and it's all so
overwhelming yet so impressive.
6 . . . 3racha ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:56 - 1:07 ᝰ.ᐟ
I could never make one of these
blogs and not include my roman
empire, 3racha. This song is an
absolutel masterpiece and every
second of it has me enraptured.
He has his own part, he opens the
song with it, but I love the chorus
so much and really wanted to
include it here, especially binnie's
version of it. Because the way he
says "shut up", the ad-libs, the
aura, the tone, simply chefs kiss.
7 . . . ultra ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:51 - 1:06 ᝰ.ᐟ
Ultra is the definition of an energy
booster and the hook reflects that
best. I almost wanted to add the
"ultra sound, ultra mic..." part but
I can't just ignore one of the best
changbin verses we've ever had, it
is right in front of me. There's so
much raw skill in the way he plays
with the flow, speeds up, slows
down, adds emphasis on some
words and drags others. It's such
a unique, intriguing verse.
8 . . . god's menu ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:06 - 0:18 ᝰ.ᐟ
Another bintro for an aggressive
song and aggressive rapping is
his middle name. Never thought
pigeons and crows could sound
so cool but he makes it work and
he makes it work GOOD. God's
menu has such an in-your-face
instrumental, and binnie matches
it perfectly with his strong voice.
I love that the song starts and
ends with that exact same verse,
it adds a different kind of impact.
9 . . . cover me ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 1:17 - 1:25 ᝰ.ᐟ
We keep talking about his raps
but this is stray kids, they're all
aces in their own right and there
is another aspect of binnie which
deserves its spotlight. Vocalist
changbin is an experience and a
whole. You wouldn't think he'd
have a soft singing voice, but this
emotional, delicate song proves
just how versatile he is, as he
nails the smooth, airy vibe cover
me demands, a ballad-like song.
10 . . . runners ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:23 - 0:29 ᝰ.ᐟ
Bear with me geeking out for a
second because cyberpunk edge-
runners is one of my all-time fav
animes and this song references
it so many times, one of those
being changbin's verse where he
talks about cybernetic systems.
In the anime, people replace their
body parts with machine parts to
gain superhuman abilities, and
changbin uses that as a reference
for "feeling like a machine" and
becoming robotic in one's routine.
11 . . . voices ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:27 - 0:40 ᝰ.ᐟ
Such a nostalgic song, used to
listen to this while coming home
from high school, ugh. Changbin
can do it all, even the emotional
rapping this song needs to convey
the poignant story its lyrics carry.
It hits even harder when he comes
in all assertive after hyunjin's
toned down part, instantly brings
up the energy of the song. The
change in the instrumental at that
point is so well placed.
12 . . . awaken ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:25 - 0:36 ᝰ.ᐟ
I will never stop talking about how
much I love this song and how it
shouldn't be so underrated. The
rock vibes!! The divine electric
guitar. The absolute roller-coaster
that is changbin's part. He goes
from disted sentences to fast
bars over that gorgeous guitar.
And then there's his raspy voice
that suits this kind of track so
nicely. Ah. Awaken is such a great
song overall.
13 . . . phobia ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 2:39 - 2:43 ᝰ.ᐟ
This line is barely 3 seconds long
and it's such a tiny detail in a song
as grand as phobia, but I felt like
it deserved its spot here because
there's just something about the
way changbin pronounces "in my
head" that gets me. He uses this
slightly altered tone just for those
few words and puts the emphasis
on "head". It's different from what
we usually hear from him and I
love that.
14 . . . christmas evel ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:35 - 0:42 ᝰ.ᐟ
This one is just relatable. Maybe
it's the jaded part of me, but him
complaining about winter often
bringing cold and sickness while
everyone else enjoys the festive
season is so me. I just adore the
way the lyrics were written for
that part and how he incorporates
his little antics like the "cough"
within his rap. He makes his lines
fun even while rapping about the
the most un-fun topics.
15 . . . superbowl ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:23 - 0:29 ᝰ.ᐟ
Oh this beat. This flow. This very
confident air. This bold verse. I
love everything about superbowl,
and changbin's part at the start
stands out in particular for how
assertive it is. Even in a song as
hardcore as this one, he still
manages to make it sound even
tougher with his powerful voice.
It's yet another short but impact-
filled part and the combination
of japanese and english words
add an extra layer of uniqueness.
16 . . . giant ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 1:31 - 1:37 ᝰ.ᐟ
The change in beat at his part
and the addition of the xylophone
make this so much better. Binnie
comes in and switches the vibe
from jisung's part. He also adds
in another ounce of energy. I may
go on and on about how jisung is
my fav skz rapper, but I can't just
forget that changbin is right here
and he's a first class rapper. I
get reminded of that every time
he does something like this.
17 . . . s-class ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 1:16 - 1:27 ᝰ.ᐟ
Oh old school hip hop and stray
kids need to have their own place
on the hall of fame. The music
changes to this boom bap style,
and changbin does so well at
matching that vibe with his rap.
The disk scratches with the mid
tempo drums and bass require
a specific type of flow to sound
the best it can, and changbin
stands up to that by putting the
weight on pronunciation and
and sharp-sounding words rather
than just speed.
18 . . . my pace ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:03 - 0:16 ᝰ.ᐟ
The original bintro and the iconic
"nanananana" The intro makes
the song unforgettable and tho
his actual verse is just as good, I
couldn't not add the intro here.
The little bit of humor in starting
toned down then changing it to
the more energetic version is so
typical of old skz. I'm emo now.
Anyways, this part doesn't even
have lyrics, but it's still one of the
best parts of the song.
19 . . . lose my breath ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 1:40 - 1:47 ᝰ.ᐟ
Rapper changbin who? No, this is
changbin as well. It comes to him
so naturally, almost like he began
his journey with singing, not rap
(he did). He barely has lines in this
song but the ones he does have
are all worth it. Starting with this
breathy tone, he sings all smooth
and pretty. What I love the most
though, is how he ends his line in
almost falsetto, going higher on
the word "heart".
20 . . . streetlight ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 2:34 - 2:49 ᝰ.ᐟ
Could have chosen literally any
part of this song, but the harmoni-
zation between him and chan
leading into chan doing ad-libs
beneath changbin's singing is so
beautiful. There is this doubling
on changbin's voice, that gives it
a chorus-like effect, and then
there is chan's gorgeous voice
that shines bright even through
the autotune. And there's binnie's
precious, precious singing.
21 . . . leave ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 2:56 - 3:05 ᝰ.ᐟ
You know how skz has those few
songs that feel like a warm hug
when you need it the most? Cover
me, dlmlu, scars, #lovestay, and
well, leave. Among others. Leave
is ideal for a moody afternoon
and in comes changbin with his
soft vocals to make our afternoon
better. It surprises me every time
how he's able to change his voice
and remove his usual raspiness
for sentimental songs like leave.
22 . . . fairytale ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 0:24 - 0:31 ᝰ.ᐟ
No but can you tell that I love
when he does this thing where
his voice goes high on certain
words? He does it at times when
rapping too. This is one example
of when he's singing. Not even
falsetto, it's like it's too short to
be called that. It's more like tiny
glimpses of head voice. But yeah
I just had to mention that, also
had to add more vocal changbin.
23 . . . because ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 1:21 - 1:36 ᝰ.ᐟ
Oh my. We know he can change
his voice and tone to fit any sort
of concept. But this elegant song
right here. He uses this graceful
style to sing this part and there's
not even the slightest hint that
this man's main job is to be the
fierce rapper. Again, he's such a
versatile artist. He captured the
mellow vibe of this song with his
voice wonderfully and delivered
them in the sweetest voice.
24 . . . ex ᡣ𐭩
✃─────────────────
⋆.˚★— 2:51 - 3:01 ᝰ.ᐟ
More singing to end the list and
again, changbin sings his heart
out in the most emotional way.
Ex is a heavy song, playing on the
themes of heartbreak and regret.
Changbin so meticulously es
that feeling of hurt over his own
decisions through his voice and
he makes it sound so sincere as
well. It doesn't matter if it's rap or
singing, he just excels at it all.
