Hi everyone my name is ChestlessNanotherWorld and I am more than excited to finally start this blog. I wanted my second post to be on something close to my heart and that would be Fairy Tail. This series is more than just another manga and anime to me. It is a story that taught me the power of friendship loyalty and never giving up regardless of how everything appears impossible. Fairy Tail made me laugh cry and believe in the power of people around me. If you've ever needed a little light added to your life or just a story that is like home, I honestly feel you should try it. I am so ready to tell you more.

My Journey with Fairy Tail

When I initially discovered Fairy Tail, I wasn't specifically searching for anything. I was already a huge fan of mangas such as Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. Each of them had its own combination of adventure, character development, and friendship. There was always something lacking, however, with the dynamic of their characters. In Naruto, the relationships were strong but always marred by tragedy and rivalry. Bleach had incredible action and commitment, but it was about pride in the characters and feeling like an outsider. One Piece certainly had fantastic friendliness between the Straw Hats, but it felt like the discovery of the treasure was always what the focus was on and not the connection between the characters. I was starved for a tale in which friendship was not just some devious twist or pretext for conflict, but something solid, something pervasive and precious in the details.

I don't know, somehow, while surfing late nights on Manga Reader (yes, one of those ancient pirated manga sites), I discovered Fairy Tail. The artwork's style was what immediately caught my eye, being both bright and colorful even when seen in black and white. I figured it was a good experiment to see it through for some chapters, so I did. For me, I didn't like the look of it from the beginning. The characters looked quite garish, and the plot was quite flip compared to what I'd become accustomed to, dark things. I had set it aside after a couple of chapters, thinking that maybe it was not for me. Two weeks later, something bothered me to try again. And this time, as I continued reading it, something hit me. Something was comfortable with the way people in the guild were interacting, a kind of being there quality that was realistic and not anything I have read anywhere. And then, suddenly, overnight, I was hooked. From being curious every now and then, it became a habit. A few years later, I even re-watched the anime so that I could see the story progress in a different way, hearing the voice of the character, seeing the fight scenes come alive through music and dance. Fairy Tail was no longer just a manga to me anymore, it was home, it was comfort where I always felt that I could go back to whenever I felt lost.

How the Main Cast Stole My Heart

One of the best things about Fairy Tail is how much love and care went into its main cast. Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, and Happy are not just characters twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next big battle. They are people who live, learn, get injured, and help each other through both their best and their worst moments. Each moment they spend on a together is real, with bickering, screaming, laughing, and stubborn devotion. Sitting reading or watching them together, you are sitting in the middle of a real, flawed, beautiful family. There's real chemistry between them to spare. You can sense it in how Natsu and Gray brawl but would battle a sword for one another. You feel it when Lucy's tears are responded to with unwavering or when Happy's taunting hides his deep affection for his friends. Reading Fairy Tail was like finding people who were able to hold on no matter how shattered the world they inhabited was, and it made me want the same kind of bond in my life.

Of all of the characters, though, there was one character who really got my heart in a way that no other character has: Erza Scarlet. To this very day, after all the anime and manga that I've watched over the years, Erza is still my number one, my absolute top waifu of all time. Not only is she an amazing warrior, but an amazing soul as well. Her history moved me in a way I did not anticipate. Listening to her detail her life to me in the Tower of Heaven, being enslaved and fighting for her survival, being strengthened by protecting others when none could protect her, shattered my heart and rebuilt it simultaneously. I getting this surge of feelings when Erza first put on her armor and stood strong after experiencing unimaginable things. It was not Erza's magic or sword that made Erza so incredible to me, it was her vulnerability beneath that tough grit, her roughness. When Erza fought for her guild, when she revealed a glimpse of her concealed softer side, it made me love her all the more. She taught me that being strong does not mean you're never scared, it means you stand tall even when you are. Erza was, and always will be, the heart of Fairy Tail to me.

Breathing World of Fairy Tail

What actually separates Fairy Tail from similar shows such as Naruto and Bleach is how much its universe is inhabited and breathed into. Those universes in those series are huge and intricate, but they're more of a backdrop to the story of the respective characters and less a universe with its own story. Fairy Tail is a living thing. From the packed side streets of Magnolia to the deserted back roads of Fiore, the entire world appears to be populated by history, culture, and humanity. The guilds, the townsfolk, the magical peoples, all weave a tapestry that gives the world the appearance of having been crafted. If you have ever strolled onto the Grand Line of One Piece and gotten that feeling you would get awash with easy because the options somehow seem never ending, it's exactly that to which the books of Fairy Tail hold the secret. Each task, every town, each event is as a breathing page to a vastly grander tome within the pages of Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail's world is a world that you would want to go visit every nook, every character, and every hidden treasure because it is a world that is calling you to come in and claim it as your own.

Why Fairy Tail Stays With You

In the end, Fairy Tail is a tale of magic, guilds, and hero-sized epic wars. It is a tale of family, moments of family, and being present for those you care about. The relationships between the characters were so realistic that I still to this day look back at those moments of laughter, tears, and triumph. It is that untold story that will leave you wishing for the power of friendship and that will lead you to understand that no matter what conflict, there would always be something that you'd battle for. Fairy Tail even helped me develop my personal character in real life . It made me understand that weakness and strength are not the same, and true strength is always available with you regardless of what you're fighting.

Why Fairy Tail continues to get under my skin all these years since I first read it is that it has an ageless message and characters who, for one reason or another, never fail to get erased. They're present with me today, not through magic and not through anything that they've done, but through the way that they've made me feel. They've shown me that no matter where life takes you, there's always somewhere to go, always somebody who's going to stand by you and always something to reach for. Fairy Tail has stuck in my head because it is bigger than manga or anime, it is the remembrance of perfection in balance, and at times the most beautiful in the world is to merely be there with the people who matter to you.

Tbh i like your take on it but it still doesnt sell me the anime, so many others came before it, has done the formula a million times yet has done things more efficiently in a few more episodes than this anime. This is just my humble opinion though, as i never got caught up with the hype.

Tbh as big as Fairy tail used to be back then when I was growing up, I didn’t think it’d become an underrated anime like it is now. I rarely see people talk or even MENTION fairy tail anymore.

I hope I can read the manga and enjoy it like I should’ve back then. I was too young to watch it though smh. 🫩

Fairy Tail is definitely overshadowed by the big three. Fairy tales very goofy like one piece but seems to lack the attention that one piece can bring to his fan base. And I think the one thing that one piece does have an advantage over it it's the sense of adventure and scale.

Wow! Fairy tale does a great job of doing that as well, one piece does it better because of the base premise of it being a pirate/adventure theme.
